Liner Notes
John Barry invited me to the recording sessions for his 1998 score for Willard Carroll’s delightful and underrated comedy-drama, and subsequently asked me to pen the notes for his soundtrack album. It’s wonderful, with Chris Botti’s trumpet contributions hearkening back to the Chet Baker sound that Barry (himself a former trumpeter) admired. There’s a laid-back, West Coast cool-jazz quality to much of the album, and it’s worth seeking out. I love this album.
