Yes, of course, we all love David Raksin’s Laura but, truth be told, my favorite Raksin score is his lush, lavish, romantic score for Fox’s 1947 Forever Amber. A masterpiece. We knew Raksin quite well and it was a pleasure to talk with him about the experience (and to quote from his already great notes from earlier editions and his college lectures).
