TODD-AO, Paramount stages closing

The demise of some of our most beloved recording stages has been painful to watch in recent years. The decline of studio recording, and the profit-at-any-cost mentality that has led to corporate reconsideration of the value of these historic sites, are the reasons. I covered the desperate attempts to save TODD-AO (formerly the Republic stage and CBS Studio Center) in 2007 and the closing of Paramount’s Stage M the year before. On a more pleasant note, I was also able to cover the renaming of the Fox stage for the Newman family back in 1998.
